Event will take place August 29 in New York

Q-Tip, Mark Ronson for Michael Jackson birthday celebration

Q-Tip is set to DJ a special event in New York next month to celebrate the birthday of Michael Jackson, who passed away on June 25.

The event, entitled ‘Long Live the King! A Birthday Celebration for Michael Jackson’, will see Q-Tip joined in the DJ booth by Mark Ronson and DJ Spinna, on what would have been Jackson’s 51st birthday. It will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square on August 29.

The DJ-rapper will play never-before-heard remixes of Michael Jackson hits, while rare video footage from the Motown and Sony vaults will be screened throughout the venue.

Michael Jackson was a huge influence on my music and was an inspiration to me and so many others. I want to bring people together to celebrate the man, his music and his legacy that will undoubtedly live on forever!” he says.

Tickets are $25 and will go on sale on Friday (July 31) at noon via Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, and at the Nokia Theatre Times Square box office.
