Motörhead frontman Lemmy has said that he was unaware that his band were releasing their own range of sex toys.

An array of four bullet and torpedo-shaped vibrators adorned with the band's logo were recently made available to committed Motörhead fans. Dubbed 'The Official Pleasure Collection', the range is available from manufacturers Lovehoney online and in stores.

Although the items came with the backing of Lemmy himself, who cited a song on the band's debut album as the genesis of the unlikely merchandise, the singer now says that he had no involvement in the product.

"They [did] a deal with our manager," Lemmy recently told Uproxx. "And then he comes around and tells us and it’s too late to change it. So it’s always a bit of a surprise, you know? The sex toy thing was a surprise, but it seems to be working out."

Asked whether he has received feedback from fans, Lemmy replied: "No, I haven’t. I’m sure I’ll get some, though."

Motörhead have also released their own brand of whiskey, which Lemmy says he has tried – even though he recently said he has switched from whiskey to vodka for health reasons.

Lemmy said: "The whiskey, yeah, I chose it, out of five when we were tasting the five types they brought us, and I picked that one. I don’t drink it regularly. The tour rider hasn’t changed, though, because we still need whiskey for the crew and they like it. A lot.

Motörhead tour the UK in January 2016, starting in Newcastle and ending in London, in support of new album 'Bad Magic', released in August.

The band were recently forced to cancel a series of shows, as well as cut some short, due to frontman Lemmy's ill health.

Motörhead will play:

Newcastle City Hall (January 23, 2016)
Glasgow Clyde Auditorium (24)
Manchester O2 Apollo (26)
Swindon Oasis (27)
London Eventim Apollo (29)
