Mumford & Sons set up 'Richard & Judy'-style book club

Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons has set up his very own book club.

The singer is set to follow the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Richard And Judy by announcing that the first book to be dissected for the club will be Cormac McCarthy's 'All The Pretty Horses', though he had considered kicking off with Marcus Zusak's The Book Thief.

Marcus has written that one of the reasons for setting up the book club is his own self-improvement: "I want to read more. I believe that you write what you read, just in the same way that if you’re a musician, you play what you listen to. So maybe all of our writing will improve."

He added that just because he's running a book club that does not mean that he's claiming to be a "critic".

"Reviews are weird, you never know if they are supposed to be subjective or objective. Someone is getting paid to give their opinion and then it’s claimed to be Bible Truth. So this is not that," he wrote.

"I am no world authority on any of the books in this book club. These are just little spiels on books that I’ve enjoyed for you to see and comment on if you want. Participation optional but encouraged, that kind of vibe..."
