Mumford and Sons last night (November 10) finished up the first of two evenings at Los Angeles' iconic Hollywood Bowl by covering Joe Cocker's version of The Beatles' 1967 track 'With A Little Help From My Friends'.
The London band were joined by support band Dawes for the rowdy finale, which bought their two-hour long set to a close.
Earlier, Mumford And Sons' frontman Marcus Mumford had joined Dawes during their performance, helping out on guitar and vocals during 'When My Time Comes', however, he forgot the lyrics, and halfway through the track loudly exclaimed "Oh fucking hell, what's the words again?"
Dawes also helped out with 'Awake My Soul' from Mumford & Sons' debut 'Sigh No More', and were introduced by keyboard player Ben Lovett as Los Angeles' "finest exports". They were accompanied by musician Blake Mills as well, of whom Marcus said "he's what we call a badass motherfucker in London".
The band's set also included a host of tracks from their Number One album 'Babel', including 'I Will Wait', 'Lover Of The Light', 'Ghosts That We Knew' and 'Whispers In The Dark'. They opened with the album's title track.
Marcus went on to gleefully tell the crowd in the seated venue that they had just finished a tour of New Zealand and Australia where "we spent the whole time asking people to stand up, but you were standing when we got here." The audience included actors Zach Braff and Colin Firth.
Before 'The Cave', Marcus said: "We heard so much about this venue, and its lived up to all expectations. We're looking forward to doing it again on Monday."
The band will play the Hollywood Bowl again tomorrow (November 12), before heading back to the UK to start their sold out Tour of Two Halves, which will see them playing theatres and arenas across the country, kicking off in Torquay in November 21 and finishing up with the second of two dates at London's O2 Arena on December 18.
They return to North America in 2013 to play a run of shows on the East Coast in February, before embarking on a European tour in March and April.
