Muse led Benicassim 2007 to a thundering close tonight (July 22).

Britain's biggest live act stole the show as they returned to the Spanish festival for a second time.

Following powerful main stage sets from Kings Of Leon and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the band ploughed through their greatest hits.

And a spectacular visual show climaxed with giant balloons filled with tickertape released into the crowd during 'Plug In Baby', echoing their recent shows at Wembley Stadium.

Enthusing about the festival, Matt Bellamy told NME.COM: "Benicassim's brilliant, it's got a really weird line-up, a lot of bands who you think have disappeared or split up or something. And the backstage area is one of the best party areas anywhere. The promoter hands out all these free passes to women, as I’m sure you're aware!"

Muse turned up onsite yesterday to support the UK's other big festival hit of the summer: "I saw the Arctic Monkeys last night,” said Matt. "I spent the rest of the time propping up the bar, but I thought they were really good. They played really well. They’ve got a big gig in the UK next week (at Lancashire County Cricket Club), so it’s great to see them when they’re right at their peak."

Muse played:

'Knights Of Cydonia'
'Map Of The Problematique'
'Hysteria'
'Supermassive Black Hole'
'Butterflies and Hurricanes'
'Feeling Good'
'Invincible'
'Starlight'
'Time Is Running Out'
'New Born'
'Plug In Baby'
'Stockholm Syndrome'
'Take A Bow'

Elsewhere, Amy Winehouse made it to the festival on time to thrill at the Fiber.com stage, while Patrick Wolf braved a back injury to play on the Vodafone Fib Club stage.

James Lavelle's UNKLE will now round off Benicassim 2007, with an early-morning show on the main stage.
