The track is the second to be taken from the band's new album 'The 2nd Law', following the release of the official Olympics single 'Survival'.

'Madness' is the second song on 'The 2nd Law' and is far more melancholic and downbeat than 'Survival'. It will be released as a single later today (August 20).

Speaking to NME previously about the album, the band's drummer Dominic Howard said that they believe it has "opened up doors to the future".

When asked if the band were nervous about releasing the record, he said: "Every time you finish a new album you feel excited and nervous and anxious about what's going to happen with it when it gets released, but with this one we've discovered some new ideas for our band. Every album for me seems to open up doors to the future and this one does more than ever."

A brand new interview with Muse will air on NME Radio tonight (August 20). Bassist Chris Wolstenholme will chat to presenter Michelle Owen about performing at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. He also discusses the band's forthcoming new LP and the dubstep effects on the the record along with their future tour plans.

Tune into NME Radio at 9.15pm (BST) to listen to the interview.

'The 2nd Law' is due to be released on October 1. The 13-track album is the follow-up to 2009's 'The Resistance'.

The Devon trio will tour the UK in October, playing five shows. The gigs begin at Glasgow's SECC on October 24, before the band move onto London's O2 Arena for two shows on October 26 and 27. They then play Birmingham LG Arena on October 30 before finishing up at Manchester Arena on November 1.
