NME.COM users have named Muse as their choice for the most exciting live act of all time.

The Teignmouth trio, who have become famous for their incendiary live performances, arena-filling anthems and wacky props including a flying saucer, took top spot in the poll despite stiff competition from contemporary acts and legendary bands alike.

Muse pipped The Strokes to take first place in the list, while The Killers were in third spot, meaning that Queen and Bruce Springsteen had to settle for fourth and fifth respectively.

The rest of the Top 10 was filled out by Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, The White Stripes, Led Zeppelin and Rage Against The Machine, while other acts to make the final list of 20 included AC/DC, Radiohead, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones. More than half a million votes were cast in the poll, which ran on NME.COM in August.
