Muse look set to take the Number One album slot from Mumford and Sons in the UK Official Album Chart this Sunday (October 7).

The Devon trio's sixth album 'The 2nd Law' has racked up sales of nearly 70,000 in just two days since its release and is on course to topple Mumford and Son's second album 'Babel' from the top spot.

'Babel' has become the fastest selling album of 2012 so far with sales of over 159,000 last week, overtaking Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' and Emeli Sande's 'Our version Of Events'.

P!nk’s 'The Truth About Love' is currently at Number Three, while The Killers' 'Battle Born' stays in the top five at Number Four. Jonathan & Charlotte’s 'Together' is in fifth place.

Meanwhile, in the Official Singles Chart, One Direction and Rihanna go head-to-head for the Number One slot, with the boyband's 'Take Me Home' taking the top spot in the midweeks over the Bajan singer's new track 'Diamonds' by less than 250 copies.

However, this could all change come Sunday as Adele releases her new James Bond soundtrack 'Skyfall' at seven minutes past midnight on Friday (October 5).
