Muse accidentally led Coventry residents to believe their local stadium was on fire last night (May 20).

The band will perform live at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on Wednesday night (May 22) and were rehearsing some of the special effects that are used in their live show on Monday night. However, with flames rising above the top of the stadium, onlookers thought it was on fire and immediately began flagging their concerns on Twitter and Facebook. At one point in the evening the name of the stadium and Coventry were trending topics in the UK, leading the Ricoh Arena's official Twitter account to clarifying the situation for those concerned.

The band, who released new album 'The 2nd Law' in 2012, will play four shows in the UK, starting in Coventry on May 22 before two shows at London's Emirates Stadium, home to Arsenal FC, on May 25 and 26. The short jaunt will end in Manchester on June 1. Dizzee Rascal will support on all dates.

Muse will play:

Coventry Ricoh Arena (May 22)
London Emirates Stadium (25, 26)
Manchester Etihad Stadium (June 1)
