50 Cent to play blind, crime-solving DJ

Rapper signs on for role in adaptation of best-selling novel, 'Odd Thomas'

50 Cent has signed on to play the role of blind DJ Shamus Cocobolo in Odd Thomas, the forthcoming adaptation of Dean Koontz‘s best-selling novel.

The film will centre around a clairvoyant cook, played by Star Trek‘s Anton Yelchin, who has the ability to see, and partially communicate with, the dead. While the role of Shamus in the book takes up little more than a few pages, it’s expected that the character will be expanded in the wake of the rapper’s burgeoning movie career.

Collider also reports that Odd Thomas will be overseen by The Mummy and GI Joe director Steven Sommers.

Last year 50 Cent lost 54 pounds for a role as a football star diagnosed with cancer. The film, Things Fall Apart, is yet to get a release date.
