Rapper recruits single for promo clip for new single
A$AP Rocky has debuted the Rihanna-starring video for his new single ‘Fashion Killa’ – scroll down to the bottom of the page to watch.
The track, which is taken from the Harlem rapper’s ‘Long. Live. A$AP’ album, features the lyrics “Her attitude Rihanna/ She get it from her mama“, while the video also features a cameo from A$AP Rocky’s associate A$AP Ferg.
Earlier this month, A$AP Rocky apologised for what he described as “homophobic” behaviour at the MTV VMAs. He appeared to present an award alongside basketball player Jason Collins, who is gay, at the awards in August. The pair were introducing Macklemore to the stage for a performance when Collins began speaking about his own homosexuality, to the clear discomfort of A$AP Rocky, who pulled a face and then promoted the release of the A$AP Ferg album when he came to speak.
Speaking about the incident, he said: “I’m mad that my facial expressions was like that because I’m not homophobic at all, and that whole thing just came off real homophobic,” he said of the incident. “I didn’t really notice it until I got home and saw it. I apologise to Jason for that, because people was laughing and shit, and you know… I really don’t think that’s funny.”
More recently, meanwhile, a Canadian university cancelled a scheduled A$AP Rocky gig after the rapper was charged with assault for allegedly slapping a female fan in the face. The alleged incident occurred during A$AP Rocky’s set at the Made In America festival in Philadelphia on September 7. The woman, who has not been named, claims the rapper was trying to wave away fans while making his way through the crowd when he struck her on the face with an open palm, giving her whiplash. The rapper – real name Rakim Mayers – was subsequently charged with simple misdemeanour assault.
