A$AP Rocky: ‘Lana Del Rey is my dream girl’

'I fell in love with her voice the first time I heard it,' says rapper

A$AP Rocky has revealed that Lana Del Rey is his “dream girl”.

He teamed up with the ‘Video Games’ songstress on the track ‘Ridin” from The Kickdrums’ new mixtape last week (April 2), although it was subsequently removed amidst rumours that the rapper wanted to keep the collaboration for his own album.

Now, in an interview with The Juice, he admitted that he “fell in love” with Del Rey’s voice after hearing it for the first time and was thrilled when he learned she was a fan of his.

“I first had a crush on her from seeing her on the internet – I fell in love with her voice the first time I heard it,” he said. “I probably heard it in July, August for the first time, I think it was ‘Blue Jeans’. And from then on, I’m like… I love her!”

He added:

Mind you, we never even spoke to each other, and then in Complex [magazine], when she said I was her favourite rapper, I was like, ‘Oh fuck no, man. I gotta work with her! My dream girl acknowledges me!’

The rapper will have his work cut out with wooing Lana, however – she thought to be dating Barrie O’Neil, frontman of Scottish rock band Kassidy, and has also been linked with Marilyn Manson and Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose.

A$AP Rocky is currently working on his debut album, titled ‘Long Live A$AP’, to be released in July, and is also set to tour the UK in June.
