Adele’s ‘Hello’ becomes first song to be downloaded one million times in a week in US

New single debuts at Number One in the US Singles Chart

Adele‘s new single ‘Hello’ has debuted at Number One in the US Singles Chart, shifting 1.1 million downloads in its first week alone in the US.

The song smashes the US record for the most downloads in a week, a record previously set by Flo Rida’s ‘Right Round’ which was downloaded 600,000 times in 2009.

It is Adele’s fourth Number One single in the US and the first song by a female artist to go straight in at top spot in the States since Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ in 2013.

‘Hello’ is currently 45,000 combined chart sales ahead of Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ at Number Two.
