Charlotte Neve's mother sang along to the song on the radio in hospital
A seven year-old girl has woken up from a coma after her mother sang Adele‘s hit single ‘Rolling In The Deep’ to her.
Charlotte Neve from Trawden, Lancashire had been in a coma for a week following a brain haemorrhage when the song came on the radio. Speaking to the Telegraph, Charlotte’s mother, Leila said:
I climbed into her hospital bed to give her a cuddle – she was wired up to machines and unresponsive – and Adele came on the radio. I started singing it to her because she loves her and we used to sing that song together.
She continued of the incident, which happened in April of this year: “Charlotte started smiling and I couldn’t believe it. It was the first time she had reacted to anything since the haemorrhage. The nurses were astounded and told me to keep singing, and she smiled again. The nurses said it was like I ‘unlocked her’ and from that day she started getting better and better.”
Charlotte has now regained partial sight and is relearning how to walk and talk. She has also returned to school.
