The '21' singer is set to return to the live stage after her recent surgery
Adele is set to make her UK live comeback at the 2012 Brit Awards ceremony.
The announcement was made at the Brits 2012 launch event this evening (January 12) at the Savoy Hotel in Central London. Noel Gallagher, Coldplay, Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran all also confirmed to perform live at the ceremony, which takes place February 21 at London’s O2 Arena. It is also rumoured that Adele will sing at the Grammy’s ceremony in Los Angeles on February 12.
The ’21’ singer went under the knife to have vocal chord microsurgery in America last year, in order to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp. Her condition had forced her to cancel all of her remaining live dates of 2011, as she scrapped 10 scheduled dates in North America and six shows in the UK in order to have the surgery.
At the Brits launch event, last year’s winner Jessie J awarded Emeli Sande with the Brits Critics’ Choice gong for 2012. Jessie J – who is up for three awards in total – revealed that she will be shaving her head for charity in the coming months. She also said she is working on her second album, an experience which she called “daunting”.
Both Emeli Sande and Ed Sheeran performed at the launch event. Sheeran is up for a total of four Brits awards.
Brits 2012 host James Corden also made an appearance at the Savoy, and revealed that he had once stolen a Brit Award belonging to the singer Lisa Stansfield, and still had it at home.
