Adele to sing at Marcus Mumford and Carey Mulligan’s wedding?

Reports reckon '21' songstress will serenade the couple at their nupitals

Adele will sing at the wedding of Mumford and Sons‘ frontman Marcus Mumford and actress Carey Mulligan this weekend, according to reports.

Mumford and Mulligan are set to tie the knot in the West Country this weekend and, according to the Sun, have asked the ’21’ songstress to serenade them at the ceremony.

And although Adele snubbed an offer to perform at last year’s royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton because she was too busy hosting a barbecue, a source claims that she is planning on taking up the invitation from the ‘Little Lion Man’ singer and Drive and Shame actress.

They said: “Carey and Marcus are both huge fans of Adele and there will be millions of couples jealous that she is singing for them. Adele has always wanted to work with Mumford And Sons so when Marcus asked her to play at his wedding she said yes.”

They added:

Adele has not been able to perform much at all since her throat op so it’s a rare gig. It was meant to be a secret but the couple were so excited they’ve let it slip.

Earlier this month, Adele promised that she would release a new song later this year. However, she insisted that the follow-up to her hugely successful album ’21’ would not be released for at least a “good two years”.

Mumford And Sons, meanwhile, will play two ‘Gentlemen Of The Road’ outdoor shows this June. The first event will take place at Huddersfield’s Greenhead Park on June 2, with Michael Kiwanuka, Willy Mason, The Correspondents and Nathaniel Rateliff also on the bill, while the second will happen a week later on June 9 at Galway’s Salthill Park, with The Vaccines, Zulu Winter, Nathaniel Rateliff, Willy Mason and The Correspondents also booked to play the event.

The band will also the band will play a small UK tour to roadtest their new material this summer.
