Latest Mercury Prize odds – Adele and PJ Harvey now joint favourites

Singers both placed at 9/4 by bookies

With only a week to go until the shortlist is announced, the bookmakers’ odds for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize have changed.

Last week (July 5) PJ Harvey was out in front at 9/4 with Adele being backed at 6/1. But Paddypower now have the album ’21’ by Adele on the same odds – 9/4 – as Let England Shake.

PJ Harvey last won the award 10 years ago for her 2000 album Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea.

Elsewhere Wild Beasts have seen their odds cut from 8/1 to 13/2. While Hurts have dropped from 10/1 to 20/1. Radiohead and Elbow remain outsiders at 33/1.

Last year saw The xx walk away with the prize for their self-titled debut album.

The shortlist will be announced next Tuesday (July 19), while the actual ceremony will take place on September 6.
