Adele holds off Kate Bush’s new album to stay at Number One

Lady Gaga makes history in the singles chart

Kate Bush has entered the albums chart at Number Two as Adele‘s ’21’ spent its 16th week at the top spot tonight (May 22).

‘Director’s Cut’, a collection of re-recorded tracks from two of Bush‘s previous albums, looked on course to hit the summit earlier this week.

However, it eventually fell short of toppling the Tottenham soul singer, whose 2008 debut ’19’ stayed at Number Three.

Swedish House Mafia debuted at Number 10 with their new single ‘Save The World’, while Jedward were new at Number 40 with their Eurovision Song Contest entry ‘Lipstick’.

Lady Gaga scored a new entry at Number 13 with ‘Hair’ and made chart history in the process, becoming the first female artist since Ruby Murray in 1955 to clock up four Top 20 singles in one week.

‘The Edge Of Glory’ (Number 6), ‘Judas’ (Number 8) and ‘Born This Way’ (Number 16) were the other three entries in the chart.
