Adele returns to the top of the UK Album Chart following Brit Awards controversy

Blur, Noel Gallagher and Coldplay also experience sales boost after O2 Arena ceremony

Adele has reclaimed her position at the top of the Official UK Album Chart with ’21’, climbing two places for its 21st non-consecutive week at the peak.

The 37 per cent increase in sales week on week has seen the Brit Award-winner break the six million mark for the sale of both her albums, reports the Official Charts Company

Emeli Sande drops to Number Two with her debut album ‘Our Version Of Events’ after just one week at the top, while Ed Sheeran creeps up two places into Number Three. Lana Del Rey drops two to Number Four with ‘Born To Die’ and ‘Blur: The Best Of’ re-enters the chart at Number 22.

In the singles chart this week, Goyte retakes the Number One spot with ‘Somebody I Used To Know’ leapfrogging Emeli Sande, who retains Number Two spot with ‘Next To Me’, while DJ Fresh drops to Number Three with ‘Hot Right Now (Ft. Rita Ora)’.

Noel Gallagher, Coldplay and Florence And The Machine enjoyed singles chart success after performing at the Brit Awards with ‘AKA…What A Life!’, ‘Charlie Brown’ and ‘No Light No Light’ climbing to Number 47, 30 and Nine respectively.

The only new entry inside the Official Singles Chart Top 40 is Gym Class Heroes with ‘Ass Back Home (Ft. Neon Hitch)’ at Number 9.
