Adele breaks Madonna’s chart record with ’21’

Meanwhile Jennifer Lopez reaches singles top spot with 'On The Floor'

Adele has made a new chart record today (April 3), becoming the female solo artist with the most consecutive weeks spent at the top of the UK albums chart.

Her second album ’21’ is Number One for the tenth week in a row.

The previous female solo artist Number One record was held by Madonna for her 1990 compilation, ‘The Immaculate Collection’.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez has gone straight to Number One in the singles chart with ‘On The Floor’.

The track, a collaboration with rapper Pitbull, is the singer’s third UK Number One, following 2001’s ‘Love Don’t Cost A Thing’ and 2005’s ‘Get Right’.

Last week’s chart-topper, Adele‘s ‘Someone Like You’, moved down to Number Two, while Katy B scored a new entry at Number 8 with ‘Broken Record’.

Elsewhere, Radiohead‘s ‘The King Of Limbs’ went in at Number Seven after the album was released physically last Monday (March 28). It was first released online in February.

Britney Spears‘ new album ‘Femme Fatale’ went in at Number 8, while Panic! At The Disco were a new entry at Number 29 with ‘Vices & Virtues’.
