Adele confirmed to perform at Brit Awards 2016

Record-breaking singer has won three Brit Awards to date

Adele has been announced as the first live act to perform at next year’s Brit Awards.

The singer, a Brit School graduate, has won three Brit Awards in her career to date, last performing at the ceremony in 2011. 2012’s ceremony famously saw Adele make a middle-finger gesture after host James Corden cut her acceptance speech short.

The 2016 Brit Awards will take place and broadcast live on January 14. Brit chairman Max Lousada said of Adele’s booking: “You couldn’t get a bigger name in music right now. Adele is having an exceptional moment and The BRITs are delighted to be a part of her history, her present and future.”

It was recently announced that the 2016 Brit Award winners will be handed a trophy designed by artist Pam Hogg. Hogg follows in the footsteps of Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin in designing a Brits trophy.

Singer-songwriter Jack Garratt will pick up the Brits Critics’ Choice Award at next year’s event.

Currently celebrating her record-breaking success with new album ’25’, Adele is expected to be nominated for several Brit Awards for 2016.

Adele has rarely performed live in the past few years, but recently announced UK and European live dates for the first half of 2016.
