LO-FIS TURN TO NEW DULLI

LO-FIDELITY ALLSTARS have collaborated with AFGHAN WHIGS mainman GREG DULLI – on a track for their forthcoming new album, NME.COM can reveal.

Dulli is said to be the only one of the band who intends to continue making music after their split, which was exclusively announced on NME.COM yesterday (February 7). The band are calling it a day after 14 years due to “geographical differences,” the four members being settled in different US cities.

The track, at present only provisionally titled, is a reworked version of a track the band recorded recently for Steve Lamacq’s Evening Session on Radio 1.

Speaking exclusively to NME last week (January 31) before the Lo-Fis performance at the NME Carling Awards show at the London Astoria, the band’s label boss Damien Harris said: “We’re just waiting on the vocals back. He’s been working on it for a while. We might even get it by the end of the week. It’s still a work in progress, and they always have ridiculous names, so we don’t know exactly what it’s called yet.”

The Skint Records founder added: “At present it’s called ‘The Snoop Track’ because they did a version of it for the Lamacq session. They had to do a cover version for the Lamacq session, so they got an a capella of Snoop and Dr Dre’s current single [‘The Next Episode’], and they put it on this backing track. So Mr Dulli’s working on new vocals on that track.”

The Lo-Fis are understood to have met Dulli when both they and the Afghan Whigs played at the CMJ festival in New York last year.

The Lo-Fis new album has been slated for release on June 4. It is currently untitled. A single, ‘Sleeping Faster’, will precede it during early May.

Dulli, meanwhile, is currently recording the follow up to his debut solo album, ‘Twilight As Played By The Twilight Singers’.
