Speaking about songs they’ve released so far to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 earlier this evening (August 13), keyboardist Gus Unger-Hamilton commented: “We pretty much learned from the reaction of the first record that we could get away with whatever we wanted, musically… That’s really represented well by the three songs we’ve released so far.”

He also discussed the band’s live return, saying they’ll be playing with an additional musician during their upcoming tour, a multi-instrumentalist called Cameron. “We’ve all really missed playing live,” said Unger-Hamilton, adding that the trio recently met up with former member Gwil Sainsbury. “He’s great, we all hung out a couple of weeks ago – he’s really happy and no regrets.”

The trio will be embarking on a seven-date tour of the UK and Ireland around the release of the LP, starting at Glasgow Academy on September 18, with shows set for Manchester, Wolverhampton, Brighton, Dublin and London’s Alexandra Palace.

Alt-J will play:

Glasgow O2 Academy (September 18)
Manchester Apollo (19,20)
Wolverhampton Civic Hall (22)
Brighton Centre (23)
London Alexandra Palace (24)
Dublin O2 Arena (27)
