X Factor winner shows love for 'An Awesome Wave' band

Leona Lewis has claimed that she would love to work with Mercury Prize winners Alt-J .

The unlikely pair have no plans to collaborate but the former X Factor winner spoke about her feelings for the band in a new interview with Spotify. Discussing her favourite music of the last year, Lewis said, “the one that’s got me really recently would be the Alt-J album.”

Asked how she became a fan of the band, who released their debut album ‘An Awesome Wave’ in 2012, Lewis replied: “My boyfriend choreographs a lot of catwalk shows and he was listening to them a lot while he was planning each walk. Naturally, that meant I heard it a lot and it sounded so cool, really vibey. I’ve been listening to it ever since and I love it.”

She added: “I love the sounds, they’re so different. The lead singer sounds a bit like the guy from The Temper Trap and it sometimes sounds like he’s singing in a strange language. But, of course, he’s not.”

It was later suggested that Lewis could work with the band on a track or a live duet, to which she replied: “I would love to do that! It would be so different to what I normally do. That would be so much fun.”

Alt-J’s run of success continued recently when they were nominated for 3 BRIT Awards. The band scored nominations for Best British Group, Best British Album and British Breakthrough at the event, which takes place in London this February.
