The nine date jaunt finishes up at London's Electric Ballroom

Alt-J have announced plans for a nine date tour of the UK, set to take place this autumn.

The band will play across the country, kicking off at Manchester RNCM on October 27 and finishing up at London’s Electric Ballroom on November 5, which will mark their biggest headline gig to date. Tickets go on general sale on June 29.

Alt-J will first play a host of UK festivals, including Latitude, Green Man and Bestival and also support The Temper Trap at London’s Somerset House on July 13.

The band release their new single, ‘Tessellate’, on July 16, on Infectious Music. The track is taken from their critically acclaimed debut album ‘An Awesome Wave’, which was released last month. Of the song, Joe Newman (guitar/vocals) says:

‘Tessellate’ is about the lingering of an old flame and the physical intimacy shared with that particular individual. This song definitely marked a new sound for us, and was quite a breakthrough.

Alt-J will play:

Manchester RNCM (October 27)
Leeds Cockpit (28)
Glasgow Oran Mor (29)
Norwich Waterfront (30)
O2 Academy 2 Birmingham (31)
O2 Academy Oxford (November 2)
Bristol Trinity (3)
Brighton Concorde (4)
London Electric Ballroom (5)
