Traviss will face a three day trial in December
Amy Winehouse‘s former boyfriend Reg Traviss has appeared in court to deny two charges of rape.
Traviss, who was dating the late singer at the time of her death in 2011, attended London’s Southwark Crown Court yesterday (September 12). He entered not guilty pleas to an alleged incident which occurred on December 31 last year.
The court heard a woman allege that she got drunk on a night out and the next thing she remembers was Traviss having sex with her, reports the Press Association.
Wearing a grey suit, white shirt and red tie, the 35-year-old was told that he will face a three-day trial on December 10. He was released on bail until the court hearing.
Reports of his arrest in April first emerged back in June. At the time Rebecca Mundy, from the CPS London Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said:
I have authorised the Metropolitan police to charge Reginald Traviss with two counts of rape. The alleged offences took place between 29 December 2011 and 1 January 2012. The decision was taken in accordance with the code for crown prosecutors.
Traviss began dating Winehouse in early 2010 having been introduced through a mutual friend a year earlier.
