Animal Collective showcase new album in Manchester

Trio speak to NME.COM after their sold-out show

Animal Collective continued their small tour of the UK last night (January 14) with a show in Manchester.

Playing at the city’s Club Academy, the Baltimore group’s set consisted mainly of tracks from their newly-released ninth studio album ‘Merriweather Post Pavilion’.

Panda Bear, Avery Tare and Geologist (who sported his trademark head lamp) barely stopped to breathe in between songs during their 90-minute set.

Including a full light show in the small, sold-out venue, the band revealed that they expect to ram up their visual intensity at future gigs.

“We definitely want more intensive visual live shows, I mean we have some lights and stuff but we want to take that to the next level,” Geologist told NME.COM after the show.

Animal Collective played:

‘Guys Eyes’

‘Summertime Clothes’

‘Lion In A Coma’

‘My Girls’

‘New Song’

‘Banshee Beat’

‘Also Frightened’

Some fan footage of the gig has been posted up online, which can be watched below.
