Album was co-produced by Hegarty, Hudson Mohawke, and Oneohtrix Point Never
Antony Hegarty has announced details of a new album called ‘Hopelessness’.
The record was co-produced by Hegarty, Hudson Mohawke, and Oneohtrix Point Never and will be released under the moniker ANOHNI. A release date is yet to be announced.
“It’s an electronic record with some sharp teeth,” Hegarty said of the album, which will be his first release since Antony And The Johnsons’ 2010 album ‘Swanlights’.
Producer Mohawke previously shared further light on the record, stating: “The album I’m producing for Anthony is really cool as fuck. It’s really political, very angry, taking on the NSA [National Security Agency].”
Hegarty recently collaborated with Yoko Ono for the track ‘I Love You, Earth’, which was released last week as part of a celebration of Oko’s 82nd birthday. The song, which you can listen to here, is a rework of the track first heard on Ono’s 1985 concept album, ‘Starpeace’.
Last year, the video to Antony And The Johnsons’ ‘You Are My Sister’ was played to a public Times Square audience every night throughout December. The screenings were part of the Midnight Moment program, a public art display that screens synchronised content on electronic billboards and newspaper kiosks throughout the New York thoroughfare every night.
