The frontman will join the 50 And Counting tour this weekend
Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler is to join The Rolling Stones on stage in Montreal this weekend, it was confirmed today (June 7).
Announced on The Rolling Stones’ Twitter account, the Canadian multi-instrumentalist will perform with the British legends as part of their 50 And Counting tour. The gig will take place at the Bell Centre venue this Sunday (June 9).
Butler joins a growing list of musicians who have appeared on stage with the Stones on this tour, including cameos from Katy Perry, Tom Waits and Gwen Stefani. The band recently denied that Adele is set to join them when they return to London in July to play two shows at Hyde Park.
A source told The Sun: “The Stones would love to get Adele on with them. It would be a massive coup, even for them, because she’s been a bit reclusive since her son Angelo James was born. She is the name they want to announce as their special guest – and their invite should be special enough to get her out on stage.”
But the band’s official spokesperson quickly denied the rumours, telling The Guardian there was no truth in the story. Adele’s publicist also refused to confirm the reports.
Meanwhile, Arcade Fire are currently working on their fourth album, the follow-up to 2010’s ‘The Suburbs’, and have been recording with former LCD Soundsystem man James Murphy and long-time collaborator Markus Dravs.
