Score for 'Une Danse Du Bouffons' will be given away with 'The Believer' magazine
Three members of Arcade Fire have composed the soundtrack for ‘Une Danse Du Bouffons’, a film starring former Sonic Youth singer and bassist Kim Gordon.
The film is by Marcel Dzama, an artist who has designed sleeves for Arcade Fire and Beck. Described as “a Dadaist love story”, it depicts Gordon as a woman who falls for imprisoned artist Marcel Duchamp, who has to recite chess moves to a game he can’t see in a bid to try to escape.
The soundtrack is by Will Butler, Jeremy Gara and Tim Kingsbury with Dzama, whose film’s title translates as ‘The Jester’s Dance.’ Its trailer can be seen below.
The only way to acquire the 7″ of the four-song soundtrack is with the new issue of US arts magazine The Believer or at New York art gallery David Zwirner, which is showing the film from September 9-October 5 as part of a retrospective of Dzama’s work. Dzama said the 7″ will not be re-pressed.
