The band will play the first night of the Lisbon bash
Arctic Monkeys have been announced as the first headliners for Portugal’s Optimus Alive festival.
The band will play the opening night of the 50,000-capacity bash, which takes place annually in Lisbon, on Thursday (July 10).
Last year’s event was headlined by Green Day, Depeche Mode and Kings Of Leon. It also saw performances from Alt-J, Phoenix, Band of Horses, Biffy Clyro, Crystal Castles and Tame Impala.
Yesterday (November 5), Arctic Monkeys announced their biggest ever US show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The band will tour the US in February, starting in Miami on January 30 and visiting 12 cities in total, ending in Minneapolis on February 14. Deerhunter will provide support for the New York and Boston dates.
A spokesperson for Arctic Monkeys’ label Domino also yesterday confirmed that the band’s European tour will resume in Berlin last night (November 5) after the band were forced to pull a series of shows due to frontman Alex Turner’s laryngitis. Last week, the band recheduled dates in Glasgow, Birmingham and Sheffield due to illness.
Arctic Monkeys’ show on Saturday (November 2) in Sheffield has now been moved to November 18. Their postponed their Glasgow Hydro show, which was originally set for Friday November 1 will now take place on November 21. Their Birmingham LG Arena show, originally planned for October 31, will now take place on November 20.
