Arctic Monkeys postpone another arena show after Alex Turner is diagnosed with laryngitis

Illness forces Sheffield band to rearrange Glasgow and Birmingham shows on their current UK tour

Arctic Monkeys have postponed their Glasgow Hydro show, which was set for Friday November 1, alongside their show in Birmingham which was supposed to take place on the evening of October 31.

The band have issued a statement regarding the gigs, explaining that Alex Turner has been diagnosed with laryngitis. The Birmingham LG Arena gig will now take place on November 20 and the Glasgow Hydro show on November 21. The statement reads:

Following the decision to postpone the show at the Birmingham LG Arena tonight and after seeking medical advice, Arctic Monkeys must also postpone the show at the Glasgow Hydro on Fri November 1st. Alex Turner has been diagnosed with Laryngitis and is regrettably not able to perform. The show at the LG Arena in Birmingham will now take place on November 20th and the show at the Glasgow Hydro will now take place on November 21st. All tickets will remain valid for these shows.

The band confirmed news of the original Birmingham gig’s cancellation hours before it was due to take place. The band are still set to play their homecoming show at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena on November 2.
