Alex Turner and director Richard Ayoade pick up 2009 prize for 'At The Apollo'

Arctic Monkeys‘ concert film ‘At The Apollo’ has been voted Best DVD at the Shockwaves NME Awards tonight (February 25).

The band’s Alex Turner and the DVD director, ‘The IT Crowd’‘s Richard Ayoade, picked up the award. They received it from two guest presenters – KlaxonsJamie Reynolds and Florence And The Machine‘s Florence Welch – at the O2 Academy Brixton in London.

Turner, who was hugged by Last Shadow Puppets bandmate Miles Kane when the Monkeys were announced as winners, gave a characteristically short speech. He said: “Thank you very much. I’d like to pass you to Richard, the director of the film.”

Ayoade was slightly more forthcoming, saying: “I’m gonna talk about the film stock, which was Kodak. Big shout out to Kodak!”
