Arctic Monkeys singer suggests Worthy Farm is not the right venue for the US metal act
As previously reported, Metallica have been confirmed as the third and final headline act at Glastonbury 2014, joining fellow headliners Arcade Fire and Kasabian at the top of the bill. Arctic Monkeys headlined the festival for the second time last year (2013).
Speaking to Time Out, Turner says he is a fan of the band and would like to watch Metallica but is not sure if Glastonbury is the right festival for them. “I’m not sure it adds up,” he says. “I know we’d buzz off it, but fundamentally could you have Metallica in the hippy nucleus?”
Turner also discusses his first time at Glastonbury, which saw him embrace the legendary festival’s spirit. “I did the stone circle thing. I was dressed as a crocodile because Lily Allen had a load of fancy dress costumes. I remember wrestling James from Klaxons in the mud as the sun rose.”
The first metal artists to headline Glastonbury in its 44-year history, Metallica headline the Worthy Farm festival on Saturday, June 28 with Arcade Fire the previous night and Kasabian starring on June 29.
