The venue and city for the one-off gig have not yet been revealed
At The Drive-In have announced pre-sale ticket sales details for a special, one-off show in the UK.
The show is set to take place somewhere in the UK in August. Venue and city details have not yet been announced, but fans can sign up at atdimusic.com/presale to be in with a chance of buying tickets for the show before they go on general sale.
Applicants have until midnight (BST) on July 5 to register. The band’s only other forthcoming UK shows will be at Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Earlier this year At The Drive-In insisted that their reunion wasn’t motivated by money and that they’re not “taking advantage” of their recently reformed status.
Speaking to LA Weekly, guitarist Jim Ward denied that their reunion and subsequent tourdates had been motivated purely by financial gain. “The most exciting part to me is that there’s not a firm ending to this band,” he said, before adding: “This isn’t the sort of thing where we’re taking advantage of the reunion status and doing as many festivals as we can. We’re doing this very slowly and we literally don’t know what’s going to happen.”
In February this year, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez dashed hopes that the band could start recording new material together when he described the reunion as a “nostalgia thing” and compared it to “an old T-shirt that doesn’t fit any more”.
They announced their reunion in January of this year. The group originally split in 2001 at the height of their popularity after the release of their ‘Relationship Of Command’ album, with singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez forming the band The Mars Volta. The remaining three members, meanwhile, went on to form the group Sparta.
