KITTENS WHIP WHEATUS!

UK girlgroup beat off US rockers to stay at Number One in the UK singles chart...

UK girlband ATOMIC KITTEN held off a strong challenge from US rockers Wheatus and single ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ to hang on for the second week tonight with their single ‘Whole Again’.

Wheatus’ ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ was the highest new entry on the charts tonight, helped along by a video starring ‘American Beauty’ star Mena Suvari – but couldn’t knock tabloid favourites Atomic Kitten from the top spot.

Other new entries included Papa Roach with ‘Last Resort’ at Number Three, Fun Lovin’ Criminals with ‘Loco’ at Number Five, and Joe Featuring Mystikal with ‘Stutter’ at Number Seven.

Meanhwile, NME.COM tipped band Starsailor went straight in at Number 18 with ‘Fever’ and Number One US hit ‘It Wasn’t Me’ from Shaggy went in at Number 31 on import.

Come back to NME.COM tomorrow for predictions of who will be Number One next Sunday.
