Rapper tells fans that her debut album will now be released in March
Azealia Banks has confirmed that her debut album will not be released until March.
The long-delayed ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ was originally scheduled for release in September 2012, and January 2014 was the most recent release date given for the album. Responding to fans’ questions on Twitter, the rapper said that the album delay was due to a record label decision and that the lead single will now be ‘Chasing Time’, where it had previously been ‘Soda’.
Responding to one fan’s question about rumours the album had been delayed yet again, Banks tweeted: “The label changed their mind. The first single is gonna be ‘Chasing Time’ and not ‘Soda’.” She went on to add: “Obeying my label is the best decision I’ve ever made. My relationship with them is so good right now!”

Banks also criticised the work Disclosure did for the album, saying their contribution to song ‘Bizarra’ was wasn’t good enough for use on ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’. Tweeting about the ill-fated collaboration, which saw the UK duo swap insults with Banks in 2013, she replied: “The beat really isn’t that good tbh. I’ll probably put ‘Bizarra’ on another beat and release it later.”
Banks will embark on a UK tour in March. The rapper will begin the stretch at the O2 Academy in Glasgow, before calling in at Manchester, Birmingham and finishing at London’s O2 Academy Brixton for a rescheduled date.
All tickets purchased for the Brixton Academy show, which was originally scheduled for November 2013 will be valid for the show on March 29.
Azealia Banks will play:
Glasgow O2 Academy (March 25)
Manchester Academy (26)
Birmingham O2 Academy (27)
Brixton O2 Academy (29) (Rescheduled from November 30, 2013)
