Badly Drawn Boy to start work on seventh album

Bolton singer-songwriter feels like 'I'm back to the beginning'

Badly Drawn Boy has revealed that he is about to start work on his seventh studio album.

As he prepares to begin writing the follow-up to ‘Is There Nothing We Could Do?’, the recent TV soundtrack for ‘The Fattest Man In Britain’, the singer-songwriter feels he has come full circle since his first album, 2000’s ‘The Hour Of Bewilderbeast’.

“I really honestly feel like I’m back to the beginning,” Damon Gough told BBC 6 Music. “I feel like I’m really starting again with my music. There are certain things I’ve not done yet that I need to try and do, to really investigate what talent I’ve got.”

Now without a record label since he parted ways with EMI, Gough also revealed that he has ideas for the album which are difficult to record.

“I know that I’ve got ideas that are very difficult to achieve,” he explained. “I’m always really frustrated that I don’t put across what I’m capable of doing. It’s a feeling of spontaneity and not being afraid. In the past I’ve been stifled by my own abilities.”
