Police have said that only a small number of people have been arrested at this year’s V2002 festival.

The two day event, which is taking place simultaneously at Weston Park in Staffordshire and Hylands Park in Chelmsford, has seen performances from bands including Stereophonics, Starsailor, Manic Street Preachers and Chemical Brothers.

The latest police figures show that in Chelmsford, only ten arrests had been made up to lunchtime today (August 18). Most of these were for minor offences, such as alleged possession of drugs and attempted burglary. At Weston Park the figure is slightly higher, currently standing at 21.

As reported yesterday on NME.COM however, over two hundred festivalgoers at Weston Park were cautioned by police for alleged possession of cannabis. Local police claim to have seized almost two kilos of the drug.

The festival site in Chelmsford has been blessed with some of the hottest weather of the year so far, and partly as a result, St John’s Ambulance say they have treated 415 “minor casualties”.
