Watching 'South Park' baddie is like 'seeing Elvis'
Barbra Streisand is selling tickets for the only UK date of her summer tour for £500.
The cheapest tickets for the singer’s concert at London’s O2 Arena will cost £100.
A spokesperson for the singer said the prices were justified, arguing the gig was “a momentous occasion that ranks up there with seeing Sinatra or Elvis“.
The gig, which takes place on July 18, will be one of five European dates. It will see the singer performing with a 58-piece orchestra.
Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Barbra Streisand Foundation which supports causes including the environment, civil rights and disadvantaged youngsters.
Speaking about the tour, Streisand told BBC News: “What a joy it will be to perform in so many wonderful countries for the first time.
“I can’t wait to experience these different audiences and different cultures.”
Streisand has released a host of albums since 1967, and has starred in several films, winning an Oscar in 1968 for ‘Funny Girl’. The singer was also immortalised as an alien baddie in an early episode of animated comedy ‘South Park’.
