Band take to twitter to suggest a secret festival set on Friday June 26
Bastille have hinted that they could be playing a secret set at Glastonbury.
Bastille’s Dan Smith retweeted a message from a fan on Twitter. The fan asked the band to confirm rumours that they may play a secret set at the festival on Friday, June 26. Though Smith did not respond to the message directly, his retweet was enough evidence for some fans that a secret gig may be a possibility.
The tweet was sent yesterday (June 18), it read: “@bastilledan alright fellas, what’s this I hear about you doing a secret gig @GlastoFest on Friday, seen u there in 2013 an it was sick!!!!!”
Bastille are not currently included on the official Glastonbury 2015 line-up. However, a tweet further down the band’s timeline suggests they may well be attending the festival, which takes place from June 25-28.
“It sucks about Dave Grohl’s leg, but this is awesome news and totally deserved,” they tweeted, referring to news that Florence And The Machine would be taking the festival headline spot on Friday June 26 following Grohl’s accident onstage in Sweden, which resulted in the Foo Fighters cancelling all remaining European and UK shows.
Bastille released their debut album ‘Bad Blood’ in 2013. In December 2014 they released the collaborative EP ‘VS (Other People’s Heartache Pt III)’, which included a collaboration with Haim on the track ‘Bite Down’, plus contributions from Angel Haze, MNEK, Lizzo and more.
Secret sets are a regular occurrence at Glastonbury. In 2014 Mumford & Sons were joined by Haim for a secret set on the Gentleman Of The Road stage in the Avalon Café. While in 2013, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich played a secret two-hour DJ set which included tracks by Prince and NWA.
