Pub worker says they just refused to serve him tequila at midday
Staff at a London pub have denied claims that Liam Gallagher was thrown out of their bar for being too drunk on Mother’s Day, but admit they did refuse to serve him tequila at midday.
According to reports, the Beady Eye frontman was turned away from The Queens in Crouch End, London on Mother’s Day (March 10) as he was drunk and slurring his words. A manager at the pub told The Sun: “We just said we couldn’t serve him because he was too drunk. He was treated like any normal customer. It doesn’t matter who you are — if we think you are too drunk we will not serve you.” A tweet from the pub’s Twitter account on Mother’s Day, also said: “We’ve had to kick Liam Gallagher out twice today. He asked whether it was because he was a rock star. We said no, just a drunken twit.”
But a staff member at the pub has now refuted the claims in local paper the Ham & High, saying: “To be honest the tweet was a bit of a joke. He wasn’t asked to leave at any point. He ordered tequila and we said we weren’t going to serve tequila at midday on a Sunday. He wasn’t kicked out or asked to leave, we just said we don’t serve tequila at midday on a Sunday.”
Liam Gallagher spent Saturday night (March 9) at London club night This Feeling, which saw the premiere of a new Beady Eye song. Gallagher went to the club to see his Beady Eye bandmate, guitarist Andy Bell, DJing, and gave Bell the green light to play an unnamed track thought to be the band’s next single.
