Beastie Boys Ad-Rock linked to role in new Ben Stiller film

Rapper will reportedly star in Noah Baumbach film 'While We're Young'

Beastie Boys‘ Ad-Rock, real name Adam Horovitz, has been linked to an acting role in the new Ben Stiller and Noah Baumbach film While We’re Young.

The Wrap reports that the musician will take on a part in the film, which also stars Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried and Girls actor Adam Driver.

Stiller and director Baumbach previously worked together on the 2010 film Greenberg. According to a source close to the film, which tells the story of a couple in their forties and their relationship with a younger couple in their twenties, Ad-Rock will play a friend of the characters played by Stiller and Watts, whose relationship with the pair changes when he becomes a father.

Ad-Rock has some acting experience, having starred on films such as Lost Angels, A Kiss Before Dying, and Roadside Prophets as well as an episode of 30 Rock.

Meanwhile, Mike D of the Beastie Boys released his first new music since the death of bandmate Adam Yauch last week. The producer and rapper has uploaded a 10-minute-long mix to his Soundcloud page under the name Humberto V New Reactionaries. The mix was inspired by hardcore bands such as Black Flag and Bad Brains as well as trap, the aggressive strand of hip-hop made popular by the likes of Baauer.

Mike D and Ad-Rock have reportedly signed a deal to release their memoirs in 2015. Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch of Beastie Boys died in 2012. Yauch was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and succumbed to the disease on May 4, 2012, aged 47.
