Beastie Boys perform first-ever Brooklyn show

Trio play it at McCarren Pool

Beastie Boys played their first ever show in their home borough of Brooklyn last night (August 9).

Opening with ‘Hello Brooklyn’, the band tore through a string of hits, from ‘Root Down’ to ‘Sure Shot’.

Even the 30-minute long bar queues failed to dampen the spirits of the crowd who went ballistic for the entire set, and in particular ‘Body Movin”, ‘So What’cha Want’ and ‘Ch-Check It Out’.

The band were clearly thrilled to be playing Brooklyn, particularly MCA, who beamed from ear-to-ear for the duration.

Returning for an encore of ‘Intergalactic’ and ‘Sabotage’, they predictably closed the set with 1987 single ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’, bookending the set with exhilarating tributes to their background.

They continue their US tour tonight with a gala performance at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
