The rap trio pay their respects to Jam Master Jay...

Beastie Boys are to warm up for their appearance at the COACHELLA FESTIVAL later this month with a tribute gig for RUN-DMC’s slain DJ JAM MASTER JAY.

The rap trio’s own show will take place on April 25 at Las Vegas House Of Blues, the day before their slot at the festival in Indio, California.

It is not yet known if surviving Run DMC members Joseph ‘Reverend Run’ Simmons or Daryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels plan to attend or contribute to the event in any way, Billboard reports.

Jam Master Jay (real name: Jason Mizell) was murdered last October at his recording studio in Queens, New York. No charges have been filed in the case.

Beastie Boys will play a Tibetan Freedom Concert on April 19 at Tokyo’s Bay NK Hall, with proceeds to benefit the Beastie Boys -founded Milarepa Fund nonprofit organisation. Tibetan multi-instrumentalist Nawang Khechog and Japanese rock act Mo’Some Tonebender will also be on the bill.
