A 2016 album featuring the festival's artists performing covers could be one to look out for
Footage from ‘Echo In The Canyon’ Festival, held in Orpheum Theatre, Los Angeles on Monday, October 12, shows a number of big name artists performing folk-tribute cover songs.
Beck, Fiona Apple, Cat Power, Regina Spektor, Jade (formerly of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) and Jakob Dylan (formerly of The Wallflowers) performed the music of The Byrds, The Beach Boys, The Mamas and The Papas, Buffalo Springfield, The Association, Love and others.
The concert was designed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Southern California folk’s founding acts, and will be accompanied at a later date by a covers album featuring all the artists that performed on the night.
Beck has been teasing fans recently, and tweeted a studio picture in August that seemed to suggest that a follow-up to Grammy-winning album ‘Morning Phase’ might not be too far off.
Chic’s Nile Rodgers also posted a picture in which he shares studio space with Beck, prompting rumours that the two might be planning a collaboration. The tweet also mentioned Sia‘s future arrival.
