NOT SUCH A FIELD DAY FOR BECK!

A stagehand accidentally hits the star in the ribs as he watches Blur...

BECK was forced to pull out of the NEW YORK FIELD DAY festival on Saturday (June 7), when a stagehand accidentally hit him in the ribs.

The singer was watching Blur from the side of the stage at the New Jersey Giant’s Stadium when the incident occurred. Medics were very concerned that the injury could puncture Beck‘s lung if he performed.

A statement on Beck‘s official websitesaid, “Fortunately there was nothing broken but Beck was in considerable pain and discomfort. He tried to go back and do something acoustically but the complicated logistics of the festival made it impossible.”

The website added, “He sends his sincere apologies to his fans and hopes that despite the weather and his absence they managed to have a fun day at the show.”

The troubled Field Day festival was plagued with legal issues in the weeks leading up to the event, resulting in a venue only being secured last week and tickets going on sale on Wednesday (June 4).

Beck was due to perform alongside Radiohead, [/a], [a], Spiritualized and [a][/a].
