Belle & Sebastian reconvene for new album and shows

Band set to work on first new album since 2006

Belle & Sebastian are about to enter the studio to work on their first album since 2006’s ‘The Life Pursuit’ and are planning new live dates.

The Glasgow indie band have sent a message to fans on their emailing list explaining they have been working on new material in their hometown and are set to begin proper recording sessions in Los Angeles soon.

“We’ve been in the studio these last few weeks writing some new tracks and shortly we will say cheerio to Glasgow for a while when we set off to LA to record our next album,” they explained.

The band have revealed a series of festival bookings for 2010 via their website, Belleandsebastian.com. They are set to play Finland’s Ruisrock Festival (July 11), Norway’s Slottsfjell Festival (July 15) and Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival (August 1).

They are expected to reveal details of a UK appearance soon.

Until recently, Belle & Sebastian were on semi-hiatus, with frontman Stuart Murdoch releasing an album, ‘God Help The Girl’, last year featuring various female singers.
