Singer-songwriter admits admiration for 'High Fidelity' author's lyrics

Ben Folds has announced plans to record material with author Nick Hornby.

The American singer-songwriter, who first worked with the ‘High Fidelity’ author while producing an album for ‘Star Trek’ actor William Shatner in 2004, says he admires Hornby‘s lyrics.

Nick Hornby and I are talking about doing a record where he writes all the lyrics and I write the music. His lyrics are great. These are really good words,” he told News.com.au.

The album is apparently inspired by a ‘fake album’ Folds recorded earlier this summer, which saw him leak a number of ‘half-hearted’ new songs to a fansite.

“[We will] write and record it in about three days, just like we did in Dublin with the fake record. It’s fun – I’m excited about it. It wouldn’t have been possible without the fake album.”

Meanwhile, Ben Folds’ third solo album ‘Way To Normal’ is released on September 30.
