Former Vivian Girls member had said departure was not 'her choice'

Best Coast have insisted there is “no bad blood” between them and their recently departed drummer Ali Koehler.

Koehler announced last week that she was no longer part of the band and indicated she had been thrown out rather than choosing to leave herself, tweeting: “Cat’s outta the bag, I’m not in Best Coast anymore”. When fans asked her why, she replied “your guess is as good as mine” and claimed it was “not my choice” to leave the group.

However, in a post on their Facebook page, Best Coast frontwoman Bethany Cosentino said that there had been some “misunderstandings” about the split. The post read:

Best Coast has and always will be Bobb [Bruno, multi-instrumentalist] and I. No matter who has joined the band on tour, whatever lineup ensues, the band is simply the two of us.

It added: “For those of you who are assuming things, Ali was informed 2 months ago that our live lineup was changing. There is no bad blood between any of us.”

The band went on to to say they were looking forward to putting out their second album, the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Crazy For You’. The record, which the band are currently working on in LA, is expected to be released next summer.
